China was the largest market for esports in the world last year, according to a report titled "Global Entertainment and Media Industry Outlook 2020-2024" published by PricewaterhouseCoopers Corporation (PwC).
The report estimates that the e-sports market in China will reach a compound annual growth rate of 14.4 percent in the next five years and revenues of $ 670 million by 2024. The report also notes that the main drivers of growth in the esports market in China will be sponsorship and property income.
Mo Bin, a partner in the audit division of PwC, said that esports have developed rapidly in China in recent years, and major esports competitions have been held in cities such as Shanghai and Chengdu. Mo Bin said the audience for esports will grow in China and will continue to maintain its position as the largest e-sports market in China.
